SS5H3 Students will describe how life change in America at the turn of the century.
SS5H3d Describe the reasons people emigrated to the United States, from where they emigrated, and where they settled.

ELACC5W3 Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences.

NETS-S 2b Students communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety o media and formats.
NETS-S 3d Students process data and report results.
NETS-S 4a Students identify ad define authentic problems and significant questions for investigation.
NETS-S 4c Students collect and analyze data to identify solutions and/or make informed decisions.
NETS-S 6 Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations.
Alternative Means of Completing these Activities
Instead of having the students work individually on these activities, it may be necessary for them to work in groups of 2-3. This would allow for greater discussion time of the different immigrant backgrounds and may help students determine the likeliness of their immigrant's acceptance into the new country. Another possible way to complete the webquest could be to have 1-2 students or other teachers act as the examiners and have the students complete a physical role-play of the examination process. This would allow for greater physical involvement for those students who learn best through kinesthetic activities.
